Danny O' Brien - NACC Pick: Maryland Terrapins at No 13 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Another shootout is in the offing when Maryland Terrapins visits No. 13 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in ACC play Saturday. The Yellow Jackets rank second nationally in scoring (51.6) and total offense (587.0) and first in rushing (378.2) even after a sloppy performance in last week's 45-35 win at N.C. State.

The Terps feature three of the ACC's top playmakers in QB Danny OBrien, RB Davin Meggett and WR Kevin Dorsey. Tech leads the all-time series 13-6, but Maryland won the last meeting, 28-26 in 2007.

The Yellow Jackets have opened as 14.5-point favorites on Bet Online Sportsbook’s Live NCAA Football Odds.

Maryland Terrapins (2-2): First-year coach Randy Edsall's team bounced back from a brutal home loss to Temple by pounding Towson last week. But now the Terps play three straight ranked teams at less than full strength. Starting safety Matt Robinson, who was averaging 12.0 tackles, is out for the season with a shoulder injury. The Terps also are without three other potential starters on the defensive line due to injury. Meggett averages 81.8 rushing yards and Dorsey averages 6.5 catches and 77 receiving yards.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (5-0): QB Tevin Washington played his worst game last week, hitting 4 of 12 passes and missing several open receivers. Look for him to shred a Terps' defense allowing 235 passing yards per game. He's thrown 10 TDs and one INT. A-back Orwin Smith has run for seven TDs and averages 15.1 yards per carry. Tech could be without starting LBs Jeremiah Attaochu (leg) and Daniel Drummond (knee).

BetOnline

1. Tech is 8-1 all-time against Maryland in Atlanta, last losing in 2001.

2. Tech WR Stephen Hill leads the nation with 33.5 yards per catch. Four of his 15 grabs have gone for TDs.

3. O’Brien, the 2010 ACC Rookie of the Year, is averaging 259 passing yards over his last eight games.

NCAA PREDICTION: Georgia Tech 44, Maryland 27 – The Terps have too many defensive injuries to contain the high-flying Jackets.
